My name is Nicola Gut Klibbe, and I’m the founder of Uthando — a heartfelt project that combines my love for design with my lifelong passion for animals.I was born and raised in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa, where I studied at the UCT before moving to Zurich, over 25 years ago. Today, I live here with my husband and our three daughters — and, of course, our two beloved Labradors, who inspire my work every day.

 

Uthando, which means “love” in Zulu, was born from a simple idea: to create something beautiful that gives back. Each of our handcrafted, high-end dog collars is designed with care, style, and purpose — with 100% of proceeds supporting animal welfare initiatives close to my heart.

 

The impact of each purchase is profound. The price of one medium collar covers the cost of sterilizing one dog — a single act that can prevent the birth of up to 67,000 dogs over just six years. That means every collar doesn’t just look beautiful; it changes lives, breaking the cycle of suffering and giving countless animals a better future.
